TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Kinsey Thompson with the East Texas Food Bank joined us again to share a fun, simple recipe that’s just in time for back to school. It’s fun to let kids help create the mixture they’ll enjoy most, and it packs easily into lunch bags.
Create Your Own Trail Mix
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted nuts (peanuts, almonds, walnuts, pecans) of choice
- 1/2 cup dried fruit (craisins, raisins, mango, apple, banana, papaya) of choice
- 1 cup crisp whole wheat cereal or pretzels, cheerios, chex cereal, etc.
- 1/2 cup sweet of choice (chocolate chips, yogurt covered raisins, shredded coconut)
Method
In large bowl, combine all ingredients together.
Place the trail mix in an airtight container or in a plastic bag with closure. Store in a cool and dry place.
