The new Big Sioux Burger in the office tower at The Steel District celebrates happy hour twice every day. Hours are 8 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. Tap beer and domestic bottles are $4, seltzers are two-for-one and rail cocktails are $4. Really Happy Hour is from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. For $10, get a house burger, fries and a domestic beer.
22Ten Kitchen Cocktails is celebrating Mardi Gras season with its annual Taste of New Orleans menu. New this year: the BBQ Shrimp Po’ Boy. The menu typically is available until mid-February.
We’ve spotted a couple of rare finds that appeal to a more limited but dedicated audience. My Place Montrose Cafe in Montrose is serving liver and onions this Saturday. The meal comes with mashed potatoes, corn and a roll. Serving starts at 5 p.m., and it sells out fast. Baking up a Storm makes sour cream raisin pie. The bakery is on the first floor of The Blu at Lorraine at the Lake Lorraine development. Owner Alex Peterson said his recipe has been passed down for generations. Order it topped with meringue or whipped cream.
Fernson Brewing Co. has released its first THC drinks. The first two flavors of Skip Daze are blood orange and raspberry vanilla. “Months of refinement and countless test batches have produced a beverage using naturally derived hemp,” the brewery said. “To ensure a consistent, trustworthy experience, we send each batch for third-party testing.”
Two ice cream shops are selling Valentine’s Day cards that have the bonus of serving as a gift card. Stensland Family Farms has a half-price deal on cards this month. Each $1 card is good for a free mini dip, which usually is $2. Stop by the store, or order them online. In February, each card will cost $2. The B&G Milkyway at 69th and Cliff is selling cards for $1.80 that are good for a free small ice cream cone, which usually is $3. The cards can be used only at that location. Order online for pickup Feb. 7 at the store.
Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews has several new menu items. New burgers are Pepperoni Pizza, Rise and Grind Breakfast, Peach Pit, Wild Willy Roaster Melt and Figgy Mommy with spicy fig ham, peppered bacon, sauteed onions and Gouda cheese on top of the classic half-pound patty. There are five new mac-and cheese bowls, topped with everything from buffalo chicken to bacon cheeseburger ingredients. If you’d rather your bowl had a base of mashed potatoes, there are three new ones: Chicken Tot Pie, Poutine and Crispy Chicken. Chicken Tot Pie, which is chicken pot pie filling, also is available as an appetizer over a pile of tater tots. Other additions: Brisket Sausage and Fried Pickles as an appetizer, Hot Chicken Sandwich, Fish & Chips Basket, Brownie Bites and Caramel Apple shakes and two new wing sauces: Figgy Momma and Spicy Peach.

Safari Bar & Grill in Renner has a new special. Stop in after 5 p.m. Thursdays for Wing & Pizza Night. Get 75-cent bone-in wings and a 14-inch pepperoni or meat lover’s pizza with a pitcher of domestic beer for $25. The offer is good for dine-in only.

Cracker Barrel has several new menu items: Crispy Tender Dippers, Signature Saucy Chicken Sandwich, Chicken n’ Dumpling Soup, Pot Roast and Sugar Plum Tea. New specials include Early Dinner Deals starting at $9 from 4 to 6 p.m. weekdays and the daily Sunrise Pancake Special starting at $8.
Taco Bell has new Cheesy Dipping Burritos. Choose steak or chicken and one of three sauces: Creamy Chipotle, Nacho Cheese or Sour Cream.
Subway also has new Meal of the Day specials with $7 combos. Thursday’s special is the new Baja Chipotle Chicken sub.
Caribou Coffee has given two lavender drinks a permanent spot on the menu: Iced Lavender Matcha Tea Latte and Honey Lavender Espresso Shaker.
Detour Bar has new specials in addition to its regular happy hour, which is half-price drinks from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. These deals are good after 7 p.m. — Sunday: $15 domestic buckets; Monday: $4 wells and pints; Tuesday: $3.50 domestic beers and $4 seltzers; Wednesday: $4 you call it; Thursday: $3.50 bombers. All day Friday and from 10 p.m. to close Saturday, all drinks are half-price. The bar also added food several months ago. The full menu is served from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and then pizza is available from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Changes in hours, service
- Stop in by Sunday to stock up on your favorites before The Breaks Coffee Roasting Co. takes its annual weeklong winter break. It will reopen Feb. 4.
- Phnom Penh Restaurant has new hours: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
- Hacienda Jalisco has new hours starting Monday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
- Critters Bar in Crooks is no longer open for lunch on weekdays until further notice. Opening time those days is 3 p.m. Critters opens at noon Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.
